The main investor in Zemanta is Union Square Ventures, one of the most successful companies in the history of venture capital. USV has already made 3 billion dollars exits (Twitter, Zynga, and Tumblr), while it's still holding investments in companies such as CloudFlare, Disqus, FourSquare, Etsy, Kickstarter, Kik, SoundCloud, and others. As is the case lately with all major venture funds USV is providing its portfolio companies not only with money but increasingly also with common expertize and services. The companies in USV network are therefore induced in regular exchange of ideas and knowledge that increasingly takes place in the form of various summits of experts in the particular field. It is one such summit that got me to New York this week. The summit I'm attending today is targeted at product developers of USV portfolio companies and there will be between twenty and thirty product developers present from some of the best companies in the world. I have no idea what to expect from the meetup, but I'm pretty sure it won't be boring. I'll even get a five minutes talking slot myself to present why I migrated from the role of VP of Engineering into role of VP of Product Development. So stay tuned, as I'll definitely have some interesting stuff to share with you tomorrow.
