After last year's inaugural event we are again organizing a meet-up of Alumni of Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics of University of Ljubljana. The meet-up will take place on Thursday, November 28th at 18:00 in the lobby of Pošta Slovenia on Čopova street. Besides obligatory networking event, the main topics of the meet-up will be a round table between IT "giants" and nascent start-up IT industry, and popularization of programming in Slovenia, as part of #codeEU initiative. The round table between IT "giants" and nascent start-up IT industry will be led by Gregor Smrekar who's the most competent man on the subject in Slovenia, since he led the biggest sofware company in Slovenia ComTrade (ex-Hermes Softlab) for many years, while this year he has decided to join Celtra, the most successful Slovenian start-up, as a senior VP of Engineering. We're still deciding on guests and details of the round table, so if you have some proposals also yourself, let them know in the comments.
The #codeEU is the initiative by EU commissioners Neelie Kroes' Young Advisors to promote programming within EU. The Alumni FRI will join the initiative by providing an opportunity to several organizations that promote programming in Slovenia to promote themselves to the members of Alumni FRI. We have confirmed attendance of CodeCats (off-shot of RailGirls), CoderDojo, Janez Demšar, and Bober programming competition. If you know of some other group promoting programming that could use some additional exposure, let me know in the comments.
Please register for the event on Eventbrite. The small fee goes towards covering the cost of the place and catering. Please register early as it helps us substantially in organization of the event.
